Taguig’s weekly Covid-19 cases rise to 640 

Taguig City’s weekly total of new Covid-19 cases rose to 640 as its active cases are now at more than 800.

Based on data from the Department of Health’s Covid-19 Tracker, Taguig tallied 640 new Covid-19 cases from July 26 to Aug. 1, up by 16 cases or 3.9 percent from 616 new cases recorded from July 19 to 25.

The DOH Tracker data also showed that Taguig City added 92 cases on Aug. 1 to bring the total active cases to 856 out of 86,558 confirmed cases, 85,161 recoveries and 541 deaths since 2020.

Data released by Dr. Guido David of the OCTA Research showed that among highly urbanized cities and independent component cities in the country as of Aug. 1, Taguig placed sixth in the nationwide ranking based on the number of new daily cases with 92.

The DOH reported that from July 25 to 31, the Philippines added 24,100 new Covid-19 cases, or a daily average of 3,443, an increase of 24 percent from the total recorded from July 18 to 24.

There are 76 severe and critical cases in the country and 44 deaths in the past week.

According to the Taguig City government, 6,783 individuals were vaccinated against Covid-19 from July 25 to 29.

Of the total, 4,835 adults aged 18 and above received their first and second doses, and first and second boosters while 915 minors aged 12 to 17 were also vaccinated and given their first booster shots, and 1,033 five to 11 years old got their first and second doses.
